SUMMARY:Guided Stargazing - Rescheduled! - Spots Open
DESCRIPTION:Due to the cloudy weather forecast\, this program was moved from its original date of Wednesday\, October 22 to the scheduled weather date of Thursday\, October 23. SUMMARY:Count Birds with the Door County Land Trust!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a series of beginner-friendly guided birding walks in celebration of the Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC)—an international citizen science project hosted by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The GBBC invites people around the world to spend as little as 15 minutes observing birds and sharing their sightings to help scientists better understand and protect bird populations. \nDuring three out of the four days of the GBBC\, the Door County Land Trust (DCLT) is hosting relaxed\, guided bird walks at four of our nature preserves throughout the county. These walks will be led by DCLT’s Community Conservation Coordinator\, Paige Witek\, and are designed especially for new and curious birders\, with a focus on learning the basics of birdwatching in a supportive\, welcoming environment. \nNo prior birding experience or special equipment is required. Binoculars are helpful but not necessary\, and guidance will be provided on using the Merlin Bird ID and eBird apps to submit observations. All bird sightings recorded during these walks will contribute to the global Great Backyard Bird Count. \nWhether you’re just getting started or looking to build confidence in your birding skills\, these walks offer an easy and meaningful way to connect with nature and contribute to conservation science. \nNo registration required\, BUT check back here for any possible weather cancelations before heading out.
