Spring Wildflower Walk
May 18 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Let’s go find spring wildflowers in the beautiful Gilson-Peterson Forest Natural Area, and rest assured, no latin species names will be spoken here! Learn to identify Door County wildflowers by their common names. Yellow and purple violets, trillium, hepatica, trout lily, Solomon seal and bluebead lily abound. Once a family woodlot and a place of inspiration for a Door County writer and painter, this forest is now protected as a place for plants, birds and all wildlife to flourish. Come enjoy the quiet beauty of a natural refuge that can become your quiet sanctuary throughout the year. The 1.5-mile hike on generally flat terrain will pass through a grassy meadow access easement to the preserve’s forest trail. Long pants and good walking shoes are recommended.
