Discover Bear Creek Nature Preserve: A New DCLT Protected Place

July 25 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

July 25 Bear Creek

Members-Only

Come discover the Door County Land Trust’s newest preserve in Southern Door- the 75-acre Bear Creek Nature Preserve. Hike up a 50-foot ancient glacial streambank for an overlook of the beautiful, forested valley of Bear Creek. Stroll the farm roads along the banks that provide important aquatic habitat for native fish who swim ½-mile up from Lake Michigan to spawn here. Discover the forested wetlands and beautiful mature cedars along the creek banks that provide critical habitat for migratory and nesting birds. In the upcoming years, the Land Trust will restore the former agricultural lands into forests and grasslands to provide critical wildlife habitat and protect the water that flows into Lake Michigan. Wear sturdy walking shoes like hiking boots. Bring water and insect repellent for this 2-mile moderate, off-trail hike.
