Hibbard Creek: New DCLT Protected Places – FULL

September 7 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Sept 7

Members-Only

Explore the new properties the Door County Land Trust has protected along Hibbard Creek, one of Door County’s longest and most important creeks for fish. White suckers, northern pike, trout, chubs, shiners, mudminnow and coho salmon spawn here. Learn about the Land Trust’s plans and the tools we use with private landowners to protect this ecological corridor’s mature forests and wetlands to provide critical habitat for a host of plants, amphibians, fish, aquatic invertebrates, and breeding and migrating birds. As of date, over 500-acres have been protected along the creek through a partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and the County of Door. This 2.5-mile hike will be moderately paced on uneven, rustic trails. Hiking boots are recommended. Bring walking poles if needed, water, and bug repellent.
