Reading the Landscape Walk
August 12 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Over the past 120 years, the Three Springs property has been home to only three families. Today, the story of Three Springs Nature Preserve is rich in both local and statewide conservation history. This white cedar forest is home to dwarf lake iris and showy lady slipper. The nature preserve is an important part of the larger ecosystem around Three Springs where perch, bass, salmon and pike swim upstream from North Bay to spawn. On this informative walk, our hike leaders will focus on how we are working with nature to restore lands by leveraging the natural resilience of native trees, and the subtle indicators of ecosystem health that can be found in landscapes if you know where to look. This will be an approximately 1-mile walk over fairly level terrain. All kids attending will receive a free nature journal and outdoor activity kit at the completion of the walk.
