Spring Discovery Hike at Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Nature Preserve
April 11 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Explore Spring… as it rejuvenates lakeshore and forest covered ridges and swales. Discover the earliest emerging spring flowers, such as hazelnut and hepatica. Experience the resurrection of life as the dormancy of winter gives way to the promise of another summer growing season. Join naturalists Dale and Mary Goodner on a hike through the Door County Land Trust’s Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Nature Preserve. Bring binoculars: a few migratory birds may be furtively feeding amid fir foliage near the lake. The mile-long woodland hike will take us through varied habitats and circle back to the parking lot. Then with spotting scope, we will explore the lake shore. All kids attending will receive a free nature journal and outdoor activity kit at the completion of the hike.
Free • Open to the Public
