Spring Wildflower Walk
May 11 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Come discover the beautiful spring wildflowers on the 15-acre Erskine Woods Natural Area. The property hosts a mature white pine, hardwood, hemlock forest along Hibbards Creek and atop a series of 20-foot sand dunes. A diverse array of spring wildflowers and a beautiful fern garden will be found along our hike. The property was owned by the Erskine family since the early 1900’s and used for grazing dairy cows, growing strawberries and making maple syrup for the store they owned in Jacksonport. Over the past 30 years it has restored back to its natural forested community providing excellent bird, wildlife, and fish habitat.
The 1-mile loop trail is relatively flat with a few moderate hills up the forested sand dunes, so wear good walking shoes and bring insect repellent and water.
