Birding By Ear and Habitat

The dynamic duo of Carl Cochrane and Bill Utley will be leading you on this birding hike at Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal Nature Preserve. Carl will introduce the incredible smartphone app called, “Merlin Bird ID”, which you will use throughout the hike. Bring your smartphone fully charged to participate. He will also provide participants with several mnemonic devices that can be useful in identifying bird sounds. Visit two very different habitats and discuss the importance of habitat in successful bird identification. The hike is intended for beginning or intermediate birders, but all are welcome. The route will be flat, easy walking for about 2 miles of trails.
