A Hike through Gibraltar-Ephraim Swamp
December 14 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us for an adventurous hike exploring one of the Door County Land Trust’s newest conservation projects, the Gibraltar-Ephraim Swamp Natural Area, where we’ve protected nearly 300 acres. Stretching west from the Village of Ephraim’s Wetland Preserve and east to Townline Rd., the Gibraltar-Ephraim swamp corridor contains some of the northern Door’s largest wetlands emptying into Green Bay. Many rare plants and animals, such as the dwarf-lake iris, red-shouldered hawk, ram’s head lady’s slipper, bald eagle and trout make their home here. Learn more about our conservation work as you hike this 1.5-mile rustic trail along the edge of swamp. Wear good walking shoes, as the trail may be rocky, uneven and muddy in a few places. Bring hiking poles if desired. Meeting place directions will be provided in confirmation letters.
