Join DNR Fishery Biologist, Nick Legler for a hands-on tour of Wisconsin’s largest Chinook Salmon egg collecting facility at Strawberry Creek, adjacent to the Door County Land Trust’s Ship Canal Nature Preserve. Every October mature Chinook Salmon swim up Strawberry Creek to spawn. Their eggs are collected and fertilized here, then transferred to fish hatcheries to be reared. Each spring over 120,000 salmon fingerlings are stocked in a pond on Strawberry Creek where they imprint on the creek, ensuring they…

Join us for an adventurous hike exploring one of the Door County Land Trust’s newest conservation projects, the Gibraltar-Ephraim Swamp Natural Area, where we’ve protected nearly 300 acres.
